Established in 1919, Western New England University achieved university status in 2011. The university has 2,575 students enrolled in its full-time undergraduate program, with an additional 155 part-time undergraduate students, 360 law students, 565 graduate and adult learners, and 300 pharmacy students, for a total of 3,955 students representing 40 states and territories and 26 foreign countries. With 855 total full-time and part-time faculty members on staff, the college boasts a 14:1 student to faculty ratio.

3. Springfield Technical Community College

The only polytechnic community college in all of Massachusetts, Springfield Technical Community College boasts a total student enrollment of 8,899. In addition to its 90 degree and certificate programs, including but not limited to business, science, technology, health, liberal arts, and engineering, STCC offers short-term workforce training, high school equivalency classes and exams, classes for English language learners, and a Gateway to College program.

4. American International College

American International College was founded in 1885 and chartered in the same year by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with the purpose of educating international immigrants who had come to America through New York. To this day, the college is committed to fostering an atmosphere of diversity, flexibility, and understanding. Set on 58 acres of land in urban Springfield, AIC is home to 1,486 undergraduate students. It offers more than 40 undergraduate and 15 graduate programs to aid its mission of setting up students for a successful career and future.

5. Branford Hall Career Institute – Springfield Campus
